Adventurous Tours: Sightseeing in Cancun

Adventurous Tours: Sightseeing in Cancun

Sightseeing is a fun thing to do during any vacation, and Cancun has some of the best tours and locations available. Mexico is a country full of history, so while you are on your Cancun vacation, consider booking a few tours to places that are nearby your hotel. You won’t regret seeing some of these beautiful and historical places and it can make the trip education for kids as well as for adults.

Isla Mujeres is a quick twenty-minute ferry ride (which can itself be enjoyable) from Cancun, and this beautiful island is rich in history and folklore. The streets here are brick and the houses are historical and of Caribbean-style clapboard. You can explore the island all day or just for a few hours, and the snorkeling here is excellent. Diving is another activity that can be done on this tour.

Cancun is also home to a number of ruins. El Rey can be accessed quite easily from the hotel zone, as it is an ancient paradise in the middle of the hotel zone. This is a small ruins site, but fun to visit for a few hours before you head out to the city for dinner or nightlife. El Rey is the home of hundreds of iguanas, so this site is fun for children. If you’d like to see larger ruins, visit Chichen Itza or Tulum, where you can find huge Mayan pyramids and ancient ruins of Mayan temples and other buildings. If you plan to visit these ruins, however, make sure to allow an entire day for the trip, as there is much to learn and explore about the area.

From the hotel zone, bud tours also takes you into downtown Cancun, which has some of the best shopping in the area. Here, there are not only malls featuring many American stores, but there are also markets. At markets you can find a number of Mexicans selling traditional hand-made items like jewelry, blanks, hats, and toys. Haggling for better prices is expected and can be a lot of fun. Prices here are usually much more reasonable than they are in the hotel zone, so do your shopping downtown.

There is more to do in Cancun than simply lying on the beach and eating at Mexican restaurants. All-inclusive hotels usually provide tour options, or you and your fellow travelers can find tours on you own. A travel agent can help you book amazing things to do so that your vacation in Cancun will surely be one to remember.

Tips and Tricks: Vacationing in Cancun

Tips and Tricks:
Vacationing in Cancun

Cancun is a fun and exciting vacation destination for couples and families, as well as traditional spring-breakers. If you are traveling to Cancun in the near future, there are a number of tricks and tips you can use to make your stay there even better. Cancun can be a great spot for relaxing, and these few small hints will make your time there worry-free and even better than you could have ever imagined.

While in Cancun, you will need to learn how to travel around the area. Buses are your cheapest bet. However, this is not a good option for families, as a bus ride can be very dangerous for small children. When on the bus, find a seat quickly, as the driver will not wait for you. He or she probably will not speak English, so use the button at the back of the bus to alert them when you want to stop. If you do not, there are no guarantees that the bus will stop at every marked bus stop on the route. Other passengers will also usually not speak English, so if you want to move, you need to push your way through. Taxies are another option. Make sure that you have Pesos for both taxies and buses, as American coins will often not be accepted.

Know the exchange rate and know it well. Merchants will try to make the most money possible and will often attempt to sell things for very high prices. Bargain with them. This is expected and not at all rude when you are in Mexico. Remember that English is a second language for most people there, so speak clearly and use simple words to be sure that everyone understands. Most places accept American bills, but few accept American coins. The exchange rate at a business will be much higher, so it is better to exchange your money at a bank first.

Eating in Cancun can be quite an experience. Do not drink the water and get your drinks without ice cubes. Cancun does have a water purification plant, so ask to be sure your hotel is hooked up to this plant and that the water is safe to drink. Otherwise, get bottled water. Restaurants in Cancun pay taxi drivers, hotel personnel, and just about anyone on the street to promote their restaurants, so understand that workers probably are not giving you advice from the heart, but are rather giving you advice that pays.

Be careful when walking in Cancun. Pedestrians do not have the right of way. Buses and taxi drivers will not stop for you, so run when you cross the street. Also be careful after dark if you find yourself in a secluded area. It is always best to go out in groups. Cancun is a wonderful place to travel, and by keeping these tips in mind you can have a great experience there.

The Ruins of Mexico

Memories of the Past: The Ruins of Mexico

One of the most breath-taking sites in Cancun is within walking distance of most of the popular hotels. Juxtaposed amidst Cancun’s bustling hotel zone are the ruins of El Rey, ancient remains of the Native American civilization that used to be where the hotels now stand. Because they are so close to the hotels, it is almost unthinkable to leave Cancun without visiting these ruins.

The most startling thing you will find when you get to this little escape from modern culture is the literally hundreds of iguanas sunbathing among the stones. This is their island paradise in the sea of traffic and tourism that is the Cancun hotel zone. Unfortunately, when the hotels were built, these lizards lost their natural habitat. The El Rey ruins became their new home. The park workers feed the iguanas, so they are quite tame, especially if you have a tortilla in your hand. You can get a close-up look at the beautiful lizards at the El Rey ruins.

Mayan Temple Ruins in Mexico

El Rey is extremely small. There are no large pyramids to be found and explored here, as there are at other ruin sites in Mexico, some of which are quite near Cancun. However, there are large platforms and also round columns that archeologists believe once held up large roofs. From this site, you can look down and see many of the large modern hotels that make up the Cancun hotel zone.

The ruins are open daily until 5 PM and the park rangers will let you feed the iguanas and will show you how to do so safely and comically. Be sure to bring bread or tortillas. The cost to get into the park is $3 in US dollars, and the bus ride to get there from any of the major hotels is less than a dollar, making this a very inexpensive adventure. Because of the hundreds of iguanas, this is an especially fun trip for families with small children, and it is a great way to wind down a day as you are heading back to your hotel.

If you want to see more of the Mayan ruins and explore a more historical site, your best bet is to take a day trip to Chichen Itza. This however, will be more expensive and you need to schedule a full day for visiting this location. El Rey is a very basic kind of ruin site, so if you don’t have time to visit larger ruins, this is a good options so that you can see some of the ancient culture before you leave Cancun.

Touring the Mexican Jungle

Touring the Mexican Jungle

While vacationing in Mexico there are an unlimited number of places to visit and unlimited number of activities to participate in. If you have never had the opportunity to visit Mexico before, you may be wonder just what some of the activities are. How about the jungle? Does exploring the jungle sound like fun?

If you think that exploring Mexican jungles sounds like a fun and exciting activity then you are not alone. Jungle tours are currently a well-kept secret in Mexico, for the most part. However, they are rapidly beginning to increase in popularity. One of the many reasons why jungle tours are becoming popular is because of how the tours are being carried out.

In most Mexican jungles the terrain makes it difficult or impossible for guided tours to take place from a bus or a car. Hiking or biking is often dangerous or impossible. If you are interested in scheduling a Mexican jungle tour, you will find that most tours are known as ATV jungle tours. The all terrain vehicles are what make most jungle tours fun and exciting.

If you are interested in scheduling an ATV jungle tour, you will have to find a tour guide or company. ATV rentals are available, but you are advised against touring the jungles on your own. Professional ATV tour guides not only know where to look in the jungle for exciting adventures, but they also know how to keep you safe. To find an individual or company that specializes in ATV jungle tours, you can contact your travel agent or do the research yourself.

While researching ATV jungle tours, it is likely that you will come up with a number of tour companies. When selecting a tour guide, it is advised that you determine the location of each tour and then compare it to your intended Mexico destination. ATV jungle tour guides are popular, but they can only be found in limited areas. If you are interested in scheduling an ATV jungle tour, you may have to be prepared to travel to the intended tour site.

If you are vacationing in or around the Cancun area, you may be able to schedule an ATV tour with Jungle Jim’s ATV Adventure. According to their website, this ATV tour was rated as the best ATV tour in the area for two years. Cozumel Tours offer ATV jungle tours in and around the Mezcalitos area. Cozumel Tours and Jungle Jim’s ATV Adventure are just a couple of the many ATV tours that can be found in Mexico. If these tours do not service your area, you are encouraged to keep on looking.

ATV jungle tours are popular in Mexico, but they are not the only tours that you can participate in while vacationing in Mexico. Many tourists find it exciting to ride an ATV along the coast or other in Mexican destinations. If you are interested in scheduling an ATV tour, whether that tour is of the jungle or beach, you are encouraged to determine whether or not reservations will be needed. The need for reservations often depends on the tour company which you plan on doing business with.

As previously mentioned, you can either research or book your own ATV jungle tour reservations on your own or can do so with the assistance of a travel agent. When selecting reservations, you may want to be on the lookout for tour packages. These packages may include a wide range of Mexico tours, in addition to ATV jungle tours. Many times, you may be able to schedule an ATV tour, hiking tour, or snorkeling adventure all one weekend and for one low-price.

It is likely that you expected to find an unlimited number of activities on your Mexico vacation, but did you honestly expect ATV jungle tours? In Mexico, it is often difficult to know what to expect. Perhaps, the unexpected and unknown is what draws so many to Mexico.
